Quickstep is a light-hearted but energetic ballroom dance with fast and powerful flowing movements. Developed in the 1920s in New York and standardized in England by 1927, the Quickstep originated from a combination of slow Foxtrot, Charleston and Peabody. The dance is performed to upbeat melodies with syncopated steps, chasses and the lock step. Advanced patterns include hops, runs and quick steps with a lot of momentum and rotation.
